Alien: Isolation (2014)

For the last few years I have been working as audio director on Alien: Isolation. In August 2013 I decided it was too hard for me to continue to work remotely for CA as it required that I stay up all night, so I decided to call it quits. After a few months, SEGA asked if I could do the music on some of their marketing trailers for the game. Here is the result. Kudos to Byron Bullock for his incredible sound design.

Edit: it’s now July 2014 and CA have asked me to help finish off the game. Feels good to be able to help finish something I helped start years ago.

Well, it was my dream to see someday full official soundtrack for this game.

Jeff, just wanted to say great job on the game and kudos to you and the team. It is an absolute masterpiece in terms of audio design and music. I’m sure my heart was racing most of the time because the beat of the music induced it to!

If may ask, in the end of it all, specifically what parts did you help out with in the game itself?

Mostly I was audio director on this game, providing advice to the audio team and helping with the high level audio design. In the final months of the project, I composed music for the game trailers. I also composed a couple of songs for the game itself, including the main menu song (which is a recreation of a Jerry Goldsmith track), the opening credits, and the end credits song, which I co-wrote with Sam Cooper and Byron Bullock. There were a couple of other minor background tracks during gameplay as well.

I guess you are not working on the newly announced Attila: Total War either? It is quite sad if you’re not, your music was always a huge part of the Total War games.

Anyway, I cannot wait to hear what great new soundtracks you might make in the future!

    All the best, Jamie

Jeff, does this mean no contribution to any future Total War games anymore? This would be terrible. Or does this only mean you quit as Audio Director, but continue to compose for CA?

I’m currently writing music for the alien trailers for CA/Sega. I’m also working on a bunch of indie titles (and really enjoying it). As for total war, who knows, it’s out of my hands.

Aaaw man, this is so SICK. Amazing how you’ve worked on this. I’ve been looking forward to this game for a long time. 😀
